Indian women's singles shuttler Ashmita Chaliha, top seed at the Indonesia Masters Super 100, has publicly criticized the poor playing conditions at the BWF's lowest-tier World Tour event. She questioned the asymmetric scrutiny applied by BWF across different countries, especially compared to the criticism directed at Indian tournaments. That event received widespread praise from players and BWF officials, including the BWF President. “I saw a world-class tournament in New Delhi. SAI and BAI did an excellent job. Why should players in Indonesia suffer from substandard conditions?” she added. From a professional standpoint, Chaliha's outspokenness is significant. At 26, she is in her prime and needs optimal conditions to compete for Olympic and major event quotas.
